Membership Benefits

AWL is committed to promoting the advancement, interests, equality and well-being of all women in the legal profession. Our members come from varied personal backgrounds as well as from diverse professional milieus including practitioners of all ages and in all areas of the law. Our members include sole practitioners, associates or partners in small, medium or large firms, in-house counsel, Crown Prosecutors, businesswomen, law students, articling students, retired lawyers, politicians and even patrons from the judiciary.

The nominal fee of $50.00 or less allows members of AWL to benefit first and foremost from the interaction with other members and from the exposure to the wide variety of talent, experience and mentoring capabilities of the membership at large. Other benefits include:

• social networking events such as the Annual Golf Tournament, the Spring Celebration honouring the women lawyers recently admitted to the bar, and the Rimrock Weekend Retreat in Banff
• Celebrity Luncheons and a number of Lunch and Learn meetings every year
• unique professional development and educational programs targeted to women lawyers
• informal Yak and Snaks and cocktails to meet other women lawyers and catch up with classmates, colleagues and friends
• volunteer and charitable work opportunities such as the Law Society's Retention of Women in Law Working Group, University of Calgary Candid Conversations and Women in Law Panel, Women and the Law Booklet Committee, and the Women's Centre
